Super Stencils

The complete range is now in our shop very soon. Here we are featuring the first two.

We are thrilled that Annie Sloan has just released a new range of very special stencils. Initially, two are available and soon we will be seeing the others (still under wraps!) Here at Sheldon we have been exploring what can be created with the first two. Read on for some inspiring ideas.

Introducing FAUX BONE INLAY, a three part stencil set that allows you to create a free form design on your project. Above shows two more conventional patterns echoing the wonderful inlay work of Rajasthan, India.

Annie’s stencils are made from a durable, washable, semi-opaque plastic (250 micron/10 mil Mylar) which means you can use them over and over again.. Apply your stencil with either a Sponge Roller or Stencil Brush, taping your design down for ease of application.

We have been playing with the stencils in a slightly different way. Using the corners as pointers in the centre and the central design acts in a more folkloric way as the focus of our design. The colours we used are Honfleur for the background and a combo of Original and Country Grey rolled on for the pattern. If you are quick you can clean the stencil by wiping off the paint whilst it is still wet. Failing that we found them easy to wash under the tap with a gentle cloth.

And now meet MEADOW FLOWERS. Here Annie has chosen delicate blooms of cow parsley, daisies, fritillaries (had to look that one up!) and clover with wild grasses which can be scattered randomly to develop a lovely pattern. Try using masking tape to isolate and paint particular parts of the stencil. this allows you to make your own unique design.

Why restrict yourself to furniture? Be brave and create some fab patterns on your wall. Maybe a repeat pattern on each wall is not your plan, but you could introduce some flowers creeping up one wall playfully in the background.

Below are two pieces created in Annie Sloan’s studio to show case what you can achieve.

If this has inspired you then why not treat yourself to one or both of these new stencils from our shop! Just click here.
